First off, thank you to Emily for requesting this blog idea - it was so fun to make!
Posing by yourself can be awkward... we've all been there. Here are some super easy & fun ways to spice up your photos that don't have to feel forced & unnatural. Read more for some tips and tricks to pose like a badass!!
Free your Mane

I rely too much on my hair to spice up my photos, but I know some ladies that don't use it enough! Switching up the way you flip and turn your hair can change the whole concept of a photo. It also add volume to your face and emphasizes your luscious locks!
Use those hips

I don't think there is a photo of me where I don't use this hack!! This pose is great because it shifts your weight to the back of the frame making you look slimmer and less awkward (especially great for curvy girls). To achieve this pose, stack your feet in front of one another with your weight in your back hip. Pull the weight-side shoulder to the back of your body and lean into the camera using the other shoulder that corresponds with your pointed leg.
Frame yourself

Some of my favorite spots for photos are door frames and corners of rooms. This is because you can have the subject interact with the wall/door frames. These spaces give you something to hold onto and feel grounded. They also give your audience more sense of the background since you are incorporating it in your poses.
& everybody's hands go up!

I personally don't like to lie my arms flat against my body for photos because it's unflattering for my body type. That's why I typically opt to throw my arms above my head to pose. This adds angles and more dimension to your stance with a sassy flare. My favorite way of doing this without it looking awkward is to pretend like I'm fixing my sunglasses, playing with my hair, or grabbing the end of my ponytail.
Leanin' in

It can be intimidating to strike this pose, but I'm sure its worth it! Spread your knees further than your shoulders with your hands on your kneecaps to create angles. Then lift your shoulders up to your ears and lean in towards the camera. I always like to add a cute head tilt to keep this pose fun & flirty.
Sit back & relax

This is one of my favorite poses for a subject that is sitting on a set of stairs. You start by leaning one hand back behind the body and staggering your feet, one behind the other. I like to point the back foot for more flare. Then, twist your other hand onto of the opposite leg and tilt your head back. This is another amazing pose for us curvy women that have a hard time finding flattering angles.
Thanks for the support! Today marks the 3 month anniversary of Like a BA blog. It has been a great experience thus far & I look forward to making more content for all of you! Now get to posing & start acting like the real Instagram baddie you are.
