listen like a ba: podcast recs

I know we are all in the same situation... bored in the house. At this point during quarantine, your music doesn't sound the same, the shows you watch aren't as satisfying, and the food you eat is probably getting old. That's why I've provided you with a full-proof list of podcast recommendations to fuel your mind and soul. Whatever your interests may be, I asked around to some of my friends to find a variety of different podcast topics. Now you don't have to feel guilty about laying around all day when you have a great podcast to keep you company... you can thank me later:)

HELP ME BE ME

SELF HELP | REC: BA | LINK

This podcast holds a close place to my heart. Help Me Be Me has guided me through some tough times in more ways than I could imagine. Sarah May gives the professional life advice of a therapist with a friend-like approach. She addresses the many challenges that we may face in our daily lives and breaks each down into three parts: the what, the why, the how. This simple setup of seemingly complex topics is sure to ease your mind and help you to discover new things about yourself. I particularly like this podcast because each episode is designed to answer real listener’s questions making the experience more personal. You will not be disappointed by this choice!!

THE JOE bUDDEN PODCAST

MUSIC | REC: MARC GARLAND | LINK

The Joe Budden podcast is a feel-good podcast that discusses the latest music and music news with interruptions of life event discussions. The four hosts (Joe Budden, Jamil Clay, Rory Farrell, Parks Vallely) play nicely off of each other and are sure to make you laugh. This podcast was the first option that introduced me to video podcasts (I didn’t even know they existed for the longest time). It’s nice to be able to see the hosts’ facial expressions in correspondence to each new topic. Lastly, Joe Budden also has a cartoon featured podcast that I have been drawn to. Each video is only a few minutes in length, but it introduces a new, fun way to watch podcasts.

GAME DAY WITH LAUREN DAY

SPORTS | REC: BA | LINK

This is a special shout out for my fellow BTN Student University coworkers (in fact, she’s an Executive Producer). Lauren Day, a recent graduate of the University of Michigan, started a podcast talking about all things sports, but in an exciting new way. Lauren has made it her mission to make her episodes intriguing for even the beginner sport fans out there. She realizes the intimidation of the sports sphere within the female community and is committed to addressing that in her podcast. I love that her episodes feel as though you’re right in the conversation without any fear of misunderstanding. Definitely check it out!!

DOUGHBOYS

FOOD | REC: SAMEER ALI | LINK

Doughboys is a podcast that I didn’t know I needed, and I’m sure you do too. We are all foodies in some fashion, so this podcast can relate to most everyone. Each episode, Mike Mitchell and Nick Wiger feature a new restaurant to dissect and evaluate. They mix a little bit of history, humor, and hunger all in one show. Not to mention, they host new guests with each episode to get outside opinions on their food tasting and to switch up who orders what. At the end of the episode, each member on the podcast must give the restaurant a rating on a scale of zero to five forks. Doughboys is great because COVID-19 has not slowed down the production of their work. They use this change in society as a segway to discuss new features of the restaurants they evaluate such as using mobile ordering. Be aware though, you might not want to listen to this while hungry!

BEHIND THE FEED

INSTAGRAM | REC: BA | LINK

Josie Sanders is by far one of my favorite content creators on Instagram, and it's exciting to share that she also has a podcast now! Josie is so real with her followers and redefined the term "influencer" to fit her job description more accurately. Regardless, she uses her podcast to spill all the 'secrets' behind managing your own social media and how you can up your game. She invites other creators on the podcast to pick their brains, and overall, this podcast is unlike any other. If you are somewhat interested in finding out what it would be like to run an influencer account, Behind The Feed is the one for you.

THE ED MYLETT SHOW

LIFE STRATEGY | REC: PRESTON GREW | LINK

Ed Mylett is a world famous public speaker, author, and entrepreneur. Lucky for us, he is committed to sharing his talents with his followers. I enjoy listening to Mylett because he can change the way you view everyday life. Unlike what you would think, he doesn’t come on his podcast to boast about his success, but rather, he uses it to inspire others to fulfill their full potential. The fun thing about the Ed Mylett podcast is that each episode features a new guest. These guests range from female bloggers like Jenna Kutcher, to famous singer/producer like Randy Jackson. It is evident that Mylett sees real value in learning from others and exploring a new outlook on life. As inspiring as Mylett is, he doesn’t limit himself to what he has to offer. He actively seeks new life development in the way that we should as well!

TINY MEAT GANG

COMEDY | REC: MIA DOERR | LINK

A classic!! I've loved watching Cody Ko and Noel Miller's YouTube videos for a while now, but this podcast was recently introduced to me. Tiny Meat Gang will no doubt make you laugh, and it's even more enjoyable if you know the hosts. I know some people that are die hard fans for these two, and I can definitely see why after listening to this podcast. Their witty humor and ability to build off of each other is unbeatable. I would be sure to check this one out!

Thanks for reading!! If you do end up trying one of these podcasts out, be sure to let me know through Insta DM @adamsbt3. Never be afraid to add some badass flare to your listening game.

With love, BA♡
